FAQ

What is your jewelry made of?  Lighthouse Gems' jewelry is made using only the highest quality Swarovski crystal, sterling silver and 14-karat gold-filled beads and sterling silver clasps. The beads are strung on 49 strand marine quality stainless steel wire that is woven together with a premium quality nylon coating. This makes for a strong, durable bracelet that can be worn every day.

How do I place an order?  You may place an order by through Paypal, or by phone at 1-866-LHGEMS1 (866-544-3671). When placing an order, please include the item name from the detail page, your charm selection (if any) and the size you are ordering. If you are ordering a bracelet, you must specify either bracelet size or wrist size (actual wrist measurement) -- either one is fine as long as I know which one you are using. If you are ordering a bracelet for a gift and do not know what size to order,  you might want to use my chart of approximate sizes.

What are my payment options? Is there sales tax?  I accept checks, money orders and credit cards. Credit card payments are processed through PayPal.  If you are not familiar with PayPal's free service, you can learn about it here here. Residents of Virginia must include a 4.5% sales tax. If you are paying through Paypal, this will be automatically added to your total.  If you are paying by check or money order, please include it in your payment.  Check and money order payments can be sent to:

How and where do you ship? What is your shipping charge? 
All orders are shipped via 1st class U.S. mail and will be sent free of charge within the United States. However, insurance is not included. If you want your order insured, please include $3.00 for insurance coverage up to $200. For insurance above $200, please me and I will quote you the USPS rate, which can be included with your payment. Or you can find their insurance rates here.

Will my jewelry look exactly like what's shown in the picture? 
In most cases, yes.  However,  if you order a size that is larger or smaller than what is shown, the number of beads will be different. Also, I have a large number of Bali beads in stock; however, it is possible that when you place your order that a particular Bali bead may not be available. In that case, with your approval, I will make a substitution. I will always let you know in advance of any changes and will be happy to email you a picture of any item that is to be substituted.

What is your return policy? 
Your satisfaction is my #1 priority. I take pride in my workmanship and above all else, want you to be happy with your jewelry. If you are not, for any reason, please return it for replacement or a refund within 30 days.

When can I expect my jewelry to arrive? 
I will work hard to get your order out as quickly as possible; however, because your order is custom made for you, it may take from 2 to 3 weeks for you to receive it. Please feel free to me before you order for an estimated shipping date.

What size bracelet  should I order? 
Since your bracelet is being made to order, you will need to measure your wrist size. Doing so is easy -- just use a cloth tape measure and wrap it around your wrist lightly. Or, if you have a bracelet that fits well, you can measure it and order that bracelet size.  If you want to order a bracelet as a gift and are unsure of the size, then please check out my list of approximate sizes for both adults and children.  When ordering, please be sure to specify whether the measurement is wrist size or a bracelet size.

I ordered the wrong size bracelet, now what?  Just return the bracelet to me in a padded envelope and I will restring it for $5 per strand. Please allow up to 10 days to receive your restrung bracelet.

Can I add to the bracelet at a later date? 
Of course you can. Just me  for the mailing and payment instructions.

I see a bracelet / necklace that I like, but no earrings are shown with it. Are they available?  Absolutely. Earrings can be made to match anything that you find at Lighthouse Gems.

I really wish that bracelet was a necklace (or vise versa). Is that possible?  In most cases, the designs you see can be made into necklaces, bracelets, or anklets.

How should I care for my jewelry?  Your jewelry contains sterling silver and will tarnish.  This is a natural process that is caused by oxidation. To remove the tarnish from your sterling, use a silver cleaning cloth, which is available at most discount stores. Do not use dips to remove the tarnish because it will also remove the decorative oxidation from letter beads and Bali silver. Avoid contact with chlorine and bleach. It will ruin your jewelry. When you aren't wearing your jewelry, store it in a Ziploc bag (such as the one it came in) and it will slow the tarnishing process.

What is your privacy policy?  Your information is private and is used only to process and fill your order request. And it will never, under any circumstances, be sold or shared. 

What is a gallery/guestbook and why should I sign it?  It is place for customers and visitors to leave messages and share their thoughts or experiences with Lighthouse Gems.  Click here to go to the gallery/guestbook. Once there, you can sign the guest book by following the link at the top of the page. You can also add a picture of your favorite furry friend to the gallery.  I'd love to see them.

I have a question that is not addressed here. What should I do?  You may me and I will respond promptly (usually within a few hours).
